JORD Wood Watch Product Review + GIVEAWAY!

In exchange for this review I was given a free watch from JORD.
All opinions are my own.

A few weeks ago I was approached by the company JORD to see if I'd like to review one of their wood watches.  At first I was a little unsure about this. I'd heard of wood watches before and assumed they were just a trendy, impractical accessory. Besides what would a watch made from wood look like, and how could one comfortably wear one?

Upon visiting the JORD website my vision of what a wood watch looked like was completely blown away. These watches are gorgeous, and I immediately accepted this opportunity.

In order to facilitate my review I was allowed to choose my own watch from a few different styles. This turned out to be a difficult decision because these watches are COOL!

Before I get into which watch I chose and the actual review I wanted to talk a bit about JORD watches in general. The company believes sustainability, efficiency and experiential living. Depending upon the style their watches are made from ebony, koa, purpleheart, zebrawood, rosewood, sandalwood, maple or bamboo.

The watches are available for both men and women, and there is quiet a variety between the styles. Some are fun and funky, while others are more elegant and business-like.  Most of the watch faces are round, but there are a few that are square as well.

The prices range from $129.00 to $329.00. They watches aren't bulky or heavy at all but are a little on the larger size. You can choose to have it fitted to your wrist like a regular watch, or wear it loose like a bangle bracelet. It all depends upon which watch you choose and your personal style. If  you measure your wrist with their handy printable ruler before you order they will adjust it for you ahead of time.

Now onto a bit about the watch I chose! The style name is Sully which is made from Green Sandalwood. It features scratch-resistant mineral glass and runs with a normal watch battery, The wood is hand finished and pretreated with tung oils. Sounds pretty fancy doesn't it?!

The watches come in a really cool wood box with JORD's name and logo carved into it. The top slides off to reveal the watch which is wrapped around a cute little pillow. This entire presentation makes these watches perfect for gift-giving. And with Father's Day on the way I recommend this as a unique gift idea.

JORD is also kind enough to offer a GIVEAWAY! One winner will receive a $129 e-voucher towards any watch on the JORD site. This voucher will be valid for one month after the end date of the contest.

Everyone who participates in the contest will get a $20.00 e-gift card. The e-gift cards will expire 3 months after the end date of the contest.

The contest runs from Thursday 5/26/16 and runs through 6/12/16 with guaranteed delivery by Father's Day...hurry and enter today!!

If you'd like to enter the contest please use this link:

What do you think of these watches? I think they're very interesting and unique, and if you're looking for something different than what everyone else is wearing this is where you'll find it.

Block Island Organics Suncare Product Review

In exchange for this review I was given a free tube of sunscreen from
Block Island Organics Suncare. All opinions are my own.

Here in New Hampshire things are beginning to warm up, and my kids and I have begun hanging around outside until the sun goes down. It's so nice to be out in the fresh air and sunshine, but along with that comes the need for sun protection.

I have always made my kids glop on the sunscreen so that they don't get burned, and I've always liked how the sunscreen smell even represents summer..coconut being my favorite.

These sunscreens certainly prevent sunburns, but I never thought about what was in them...of course the coconut scent was a mixture of chemicals made to smell like the real thing. And all the other the active ingredients and inactive ingredients are exactly what?? Chemicals unfortunately. Yes I guess I'm a little behind on the realization that what I have been putting on myself and my kids for sunscreen could possibly be doing us harm.

When I was contacted by Block Island Organics to do a review, it really got me thinking more about this subject. I definitely wanted to try out this product.  Plus the company is family owned company who truly care about their product.

In order to facilitate the review I was given a 3.4 oz tube of the SPF 30 natural mineral sunscreen.

The first thing I did when I received my sunscreen was to check out the ingredients. Everything is either organic or natural, and zinc is the only active ingredient.  The product is gluten and nano free, veg and and eco-friendly. There are no parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, phthalates, dyes, or added fragrance.

When I first squeezed the product into my hand to apply it too much came out of the tube. It is very thin, and like the company states on their website "a little goes a long way". Being a thin consistency did make the lotion very easy to spread, and not much is needed.

I did notice that if there was an area where I didn't completely rub all of the lotion in, I was left with a spot where the lotion would dry and be a little chalky. But in the areas where I did completely rub the lotion into the skin, it was totally fine with no residue. There is a scent, but it's natural and faint and disappears altogether rather quickly.

Most importantly I believe is the fact that there were no sunburns or skin irritations at all with the use of this product. I would recommend Block Island Organics Suncare to anyone looking for an organic/natural sunscreen.

For a limited time they are offering a 20% discount to my reader who use the coupon code PAULA. (This code cannot be combined with any other offers.)

You can purchase your own sunscreen direct from their website here ---->  http://www.blockislandorganics.com/.

As a bonus Block Island Organics is offering a 20% discount to my readers who use the coupon code PAULA. (This code is good only until May 3oth 2016 and cannot be combined with any other offers.)

Monday Special Features #12!

Welcome to my blog series where I feature my top five favorite posts taken directly from my NO RULES Weekend Blog Party!

Thank you to all who linked up :) We've been having a great turnout so there are always so many wonderful posts to choose from! This also makes it difficult to narrow them down.

Each week the features are quite varied, and I think you'll agree they're all pretty awesome!

If you link up with my blog party be sure to stop back each Monday to find out if you've been featured!

I have also created a special Pinterest board and pin each feature, which will increase visibility of the posts.

If your post was featured you can grab a feature button by clicking HERE!

Now in no particular order are the top five posts I have chosen this week! If you like what you see be sure to click on the link provided and leave a nice comment for the blogger who shared the post. Also be sure to pin from the actual post itself!

These days I cannot even buy a jar of Nutella without my 12 year old eating it all, or eating it all myself (secretly of course). But this recipe sounds so darn good I may just break down and buy some for my own pancakes!

I admit that I am a fan of frozen Salisbury Steak. The kind that comes as a dinner with the veggies and the rubbery mashed potatoes. When I was pregnant with my oldest I was addicted, but since then I resisted the urge to buy any more.

I have never considered making my own until I spotted this recipe from Julie! It looks so easy and delicious. I know what's on my meal plan for next week!

With summer coming I begin to think about ice cream of all kinds. I can never get enough! One thing that I have never attempted was to make an ice cream cake. It seems like so much work when all you want to do is be outside and have fun! But take a look at this easy recipe shared by Rebecca! I just may need to try it :)

In this post Jessica shares all you need to know about images when blogging. From sources to editing tools to image sizing...this is a must for all us bloggers! I also love this super colorful photo she used in her post :)

This is a wonderful post if you have children. Emma shares a ton of simple activities you can provide for your little ones. I also believe in the importance of good old-fashioned play rather than in the push to learn, learn, learn all the time. Kids need to be kids!

I hope you enjoyed the features!

Have a great week and be sure to stop by and link up
with my NO RULES Weekend Blog Party beginning
Thursday mornings, and then stop back by Monday to
see if your post was chosen as a Monday Special Feature :)
